The DTU-2A/P were issued to US Army personnel, pilots and navigators from 1964 to 1969 and conforms to the requirements of MIL-W-3818B that came out in 1964. The watch the black dial with the typical 12/24 hour markers and the 'T' mark for Tritium at 12 o'clock, hands, sweep second and the markers where luminous with easy visible numbers and topped with acrylic crystal
These watches came in single case design (one-piece case). The case is made of corrosion resistant steel (parkerized) and has a matte gray finish. The drilled lugs makes removal of the spring bars easier. It is 34 mm in diameter and measures 41mm lug to lug. Lug width is 18 mm and it is 10 mm in height. Hack feature is present and works for greater time keeping accuracy
Correct markings on the back: Cont. nr.GS-009-61940. Serial NO. 110860. Date Jan 1967. The American aviation and navigator watch - Benrus MIL-W-3818B superseed the A-17 from 1950 and used 1964 to 1969 then replaced by the GG-W-113
The water resistance rating of the watch based on the MIL-W-3818B specifications was tested to 5.5 inches of mercury. That equates to 6 to 7 feet of water. Magnetic protection 14.5 -15.5 gauss. Accuracy +/- 30 second (daily) at 75 °F or minus 3°F. Inside it's the high grade Swiss Benrus mechanical manual wind 17 jewel DR2F2 movement. Which was based on the rugged ETA 2372. This particular example has a very good accuraty measured at - 3 seconds (daily) at use
The markers, hands and the sweep second hand and has nicely aged. It's a front loader to access the movement. The watch has it's original crown with "Hash" mark and "Swiss" marked at bottom of dial. Fitted with a nice U.S Military olive drab nylon watch strap.
